About
10 Best Home Decor is a research-driven buyer’s-guide site for lighting and home decor. We don’t list every product on Amazon and we don’t run sponsored picks. We make the picking part easier when you’re staring at a hundred options that all look the same on a Friday night.
How we approach this
For every guide, we:
- Read the spec sheets carefully — wattage, lumens, CRI, beam angle, color temperature, IP rating, dimmer compatibility, install type. The differences buyers gloss over are usually the ones that matter at month three.
- Cross-check claims against electrical code and product paperwork. Wet-rated vs damp-rated. IC-rated vs non-IC. Energy Star. JA8. We name the codes by their actual names because the codes are what your inspector checks.
- Read hundreds of buyer reviews per product — including the negative ones — and look for the patterns. Single bad reviews are noise. Patterns are signal.
- Cross-reference with what professional electricians, designers, and trade-forum regulars actually recommend. Reddit’s r/HomeImprovement, r/electricians, designer blogs, manufacturer dimmer-compatibility charts.
- Call out the tradeoffs. Every pick has at least two honest cons. If we can’t think of two, we haven’t researched enough.
We are not a lab. We don’t claim to be. What we do is the kind of careful research a homeowner would do for themselves if they had a week of free time and a librarian’s patience — the kind of research the high-volume affiliate sites skip because thin content pays.
Why you should trust us anyway
You shouldn’t, automatically. Read the post, check the cons against the marketing copy, see if our reasoning holds up against your own situation. The point of every guide is to give you enough information to make the call yourself, not to point you at a single pick and tell you to click.
If a guide doesn’t help you, we haven’t done our job. Tell us where it failed and we’ll fix it.

Affiliate disclosure
Some links on this site are Amazon Associates affiliate links. If you buy through one, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We don’t take payment from brands to feature products and we’ll tell you when a popular pick has real issues — even when we’re recommending it. We use search and product links rather than ASIN traps so the link still works when the seller swaps the listing.
